Derby Adjustable Nylon Cattle Halter — Medium, Black
Product description
New sizing chart — Derby updated the size names and weight ranges so buyers get a closer fit. Current sizes are Small (250–500 lbs), Medium (500–800 lbs), Large (800–1400 lbs) and X‑Large (1400–2000+ lbs). Some halters produced earlier may still show the old size labels, but they match the new ranges.
These are figure‑8 style adjustable halters made from double‑layer nylon webbing with reinforced stitching and nickel‑plated hardware. Each package contains one halter. The crowns accept additional holes if you need a finer adjustment, making it easy to adapt the fit as animals grow or if you need a slightly different profile.
Designed to be versatile, these halters suit most dairy and beef breeds as well as foals and miniature horses. They come in four sizes and multiple color choices to match your herd or preferences. Intended for everyday handling, leading, and turn‑out, they offer a balance of affordability and durability for barn and pasture use.
Pros
- Adjustable figure‑8 fit suits many breeds
- Durable double nylon with reinforced stitching
- Nickel‑plated hardware for long life
Cons
- Largest size may still be small for some big heads

VerdictA sturdy, no‑frills nylon halter built for everyday use in the barn or pasture. The adjustable figure‑8 design and extra crown holes let you tailor the fit for many breeds and ages. Sizing has been revised to better reflect animal weights, but if you have a very large or atypical

Very pleased
Small fit my one‑year calf perfectly. The pink is a bright hot pink.

Does the job well for our calves.

XL best for mature cattle
Without a scale I guessed weights; after trial I found 2+ year full‑size cows need XL. Plenty of holes to tighten, or melt new ones if needed.

Order up a size
Halters were fine but the chart underestimated my animals. I’d recommend sizing up to avoid a poor fit.

Good quality, grows with them
Purchased for a 4‑month Jersey; it was slightly big at first but she grew into it. Solid construction and buckle stays fastened.

Not true XL for some breeds
Build quality is fine and design is adjustable, but the largest size was still about a foot too short for a full‑grown Brown Swiss.

Perfect for minis
Hard to find affordable halters. These fit my miniature belted Galloways well; a few extra holes corrected the roomy fit.
