Galvanized 2-Tier 6-Hole Chicken Nesting Box — 30–40 Hen Capacity
Product description
Made in the USA and intended to support small-scale poultry operations, this two-tier nesting unit provides six laying compartments in a compact footprint and can serve roughly 30 to 40 hens when scaled to a flock.
The assembly arrives with all required hardware, illustrated instructions, and fasteners. Constructed from silver-finished galvanized steel, the panels are formed with folded edges for safety and resistance to rust, corrosion, and everyday wear in an outdoor coop or barn. The complete unit measures approximately 37 inches long by 33 inches wide by 24.5 inches high.
Design details include side ventilation to encourage airflow and reduce moisture and odors inside the boxes, and a slanted roof that sheds rain and discourages birds from perching on top. Each compartment is fitted with a perch rod that is double-bolted for strength and mounted on hinges so it can be folded up to limit access, make egg collection simpler, or ease cleaning.
The nesting box is intended to be mounted on a coop wall; multiple units can be installed back-to-back to curtail hen movement between tiers and to maximize available wall space. No rivet gun is needed for assembly — a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench will complete the build in about 30–45 minutes for most users.
Pros
- Durable galvanized steel construction resists rust
- Fold-back, double-bolted perches for easy access
- Side vents and sloped roof improve coop conditions
Cons
- Some sheet-metal edges can be sharp out of the box
- Panel alignment and hole fit may require adjustment
- A few customers received perches with slight defects
VerdictA robust, weather-resistant nesting solution for backyard flocks and small farms. The two-tier, six-hole layout offers privacy and capacity while galvanized steel resists rust and simplifies sanitation. Built-in ventilation and a sloped top help keep nests drier and discourage rooftop roosting. Fold-back, double-bolted perches add practical flexibility for egg collection and coop management. Minor

Very Pleased — 4-Hole Nest Box
Arrived intact and was straightforward to put together. One wooden perch end had misaligned holes but overall it’s sturdy. The folding perches work exactly as advertised and the unit is lightweight enough for one person to handle. Would buy again.

Perfect for Breeders — Easy to Sanitize
Built solid and quick to assemble alone. The metal and wood components clean up easily and the removable trays let me scrub every corner, which is essential when sanitizing between flocks. Very pleased with longevity so far.

Solid, Well-Made — Built to Last
After comparing many options, this met my needs for deep, ventilated boxes that aren’t roll-out style. It went together without much fuss and is very sturdy when finished. Only downside is a few sharp edges and corners that I’d like smoothed by the manufacturer.

Caution: Sharp Metal Edges
Performs well and looks good, but the sheet-metal edges are very sharp. Assembly is faster with two people. Screws are small and fiddly, so take care when handling parts.

My Favorite Nesting Boxes
This is my second purchase. Steel boxes help deter pests and make cleaning much simpler. Assembly is straightforward and the overall design holds up well.

Improved Design — Mostly Fixed Issues
I read reviews first and felt the metal build justified the cost. Instructions were helpful and I assembled it solo with basic tools. Some holes were slightly off or bent from shipping, but loosening fasteners or bending panels back fixed them quickly.

Far Better Than My Old Wooden Boxes
Running 40 layers for market, my old boxes were failing. These were easy to put together in about 45 minutes and simple to clean. One perch arrived damaged but a quick substitution fixed it. Far fewer broken eggs and much easier upkeep.

Looks Great — Works Well
My husband assembled this indoors and installed it that afternoon. Hens began laying the next morning. One perch end was broken but still usable. Makes egg gathering cleaner and could even double as a rustic shelf in the right space.

Good Unit but Some Fit Issues
Bought two 4-hole units. Hens like them, though they contend for the lower spots. Panels didn’t always align with screw holes and the top frame was folded at a slightly wrong angle. Also, the top nesting inserts can tip; a small lip would help.

Quick Setup, Good Quality
Shipped fast and went together easily—read the instructions first. Hens started using it right away and it’s simple to clean. Good build that should last for years.

Hens Took to It Immediately
We installed it mid-low on the back wall and the hens began using it right away. The slots give good privacy and larger breeds have no trouble getting in and out. Egg collection is easy from the front and the unit was simple to assemble with clear instructions.
