50 Ohm BNC Male 25W RF Dummy Load — Coaxial Termination
Product description
This 50 ohm BNC male dummy load is supplied as a single coaxial termination with a BNC male connector and integrated heat-sink body. Inside is a resistive termination element matched to 50 Ω for broadband operation; the housing is machined aluminum for heat dissipation and the connector shell is plated metal for durability.
Specified to handle up to 25 watts of RF power dissipation, the unit is intended for short- to medium-duration testing, tuning, and calibration tasks. Its precision components minimize reflected power and keep SWR low across a wide frequency span, helping you get accurate measurements from transmitters, amplifiers, and other RF gear.
The dummy load measures approximately 60 mm in length with a body diameter near 22–25 mm (compact enough for portable kits) and is lightweight for field use. Cooling fins are built into the enclosure to spread heat; for sustained high-power operation provide additional airflow or intermittent duty cycles to stay within safe temperatures.
Use it by connecting the BNC male to the device under test or through test equipment such as wattmeters and analyzers. It terminates the RF without radiating a usable signal, making it ideal for alignment, power checks, and troubleshooting while preventing over-the-air transmission. Periodically check the connector and body for tight electrical contact to ensure continuing performance.
Pros
- Accurate 50 Ω termination with low SWR
- Compact, lightweight with integrated heat-sink
- Broadband compatibility across HF to UHF
Cons
- Not ideal for continuous operation at full 25 W without cooling
- Connector can loosen if bumped
- May run warm at moderate power
VerdictA practical, compact termination for low- to medium-power RF work: it offers accurate 50 ohm loading with low SWR and solid construction. Best for bench tests, portable radio checks, and transmitter tuning at power levels up to about 20–25 W. Users should avoid prolonged operation at the top rating without adequate cooling and inspect connectors periodically for consistent reliability.

Intermittent connection risk
Performs well when making contact, but if bumped it can go open circuit. That uncertainty makes me hesitant to trust it with expensive radios without extra checks.

Power rating seems optimistic
I used it as a 50 Ω load for an FM transmitter and for a decorative short-range setup. It gets noticeably warm at around 7 W, so I wouldn’t push it continuously to the 25 W spec.

Works as expected for light duty
Perfect for testing low-power transmitters up to about 20 W. Arrived undamaged and performs as described. Good choice if you need a simple termination.

Solid small-load for low-power portable ops
Good little dummy load for my low-power POTA activities. The 25 W rating suits my needs, fits easily in my accessory box, and uses a BNC connector. After concerns about poor builds online I checked it with a NanoVNA-H4 and saw about 1.016 SWR across 5–15 MHz — more than adequate for my uses.

Handy for handheld radio checks
Bought for HT radios and calibration. The BNC fits my gear, labels are clear, and it’s lightweight for throwing into a backpack. Built-in fins handle heat for 2m/70cm testing in my experience.

Stable performance up to UHF
Well constructed and measured under 1.2 SWR from HF through 70 cm. Handled about 20 W without problems in my tests.
