Igloo Trailmate 70-Quart Rolling Cooler — Rugged Outdoor Ice Chest
Product description
Designed for off‑road outings, this 70‑quart roller cooler comes ready to roll with a set of 10‑inch never‑flat, smooth‑ride wheels built to traverse sand, gravel, grass and uneven ground.
Mobility is handled by a horizontal dual‑trigger steel Glide handle that telescopes and locks for pull or tow. The handle assembly is supported by a reinforced steel glide frame and axle to stand up to heavy loads. A removable butler tray attaches to the telescoping handle to create a handy serving surface and stashes away beneath the lid when not in use.
Cooling performance relies on THERMECOOL foam insulation and Cool Riser Technology, which raises the cooler body away from hot surfaces to reduce heat transfer. The molded hard‑shell exterior protects the interior; inside offers dry storage pockets and room for up to 112 cans. Built‑in bottle openers and other integrated features make it useful for beach days, camping trips, tailgates and sports weekends.
Pros
- Excellent all‑terrain mobility with 10" never‑flat wheels
- High capacity (70 qt) holds roughly 112 cans
- Handy extras: butler tray, dry storage and bottle openers
Cons
- Large footprint can be bulky for smaller vehicles
- Not the absolute longest‑lasting ice retention available
- Some users may want reinforced axle fasteners
VerdictThis Trailmate roller cooler balances capacity, mobility and features for outdoor use. The oversized 10" never‑flat wheels and steel Glide handle make towing heavy loads over soft or rough terrain significantly easier. THERMECOOL insulation and Cool Riser lift the body off hot surfaces to improve ice life, while the 70‑quart interior accommodates large groups. Extras like a removable butler tray,

We love ours
Smartly designed with useful features and a patriotic color option. It’s made in the USA and we’re excited to use it on our next trip.

Sturdy and ideal for the beach
Really impressed — built like a tank and rolled through sand with ease. Kept our drinks cold all day and the umbrella stayed secure. Solid, dependable cooler; highly recommended for beachgoers.

Very disappointed
Struggled to pull on sand and ice melted faster than expected. The umbrella holder detached in wind. Wouldn’t recommend based on my beach trip experience.

Well constructed
Haven’t put ice in it yet, but the build feels tough and roomy enough for my family of eight. Handles and metal frame look especially robust.

Top beach cooler — minor axle gripe
Two years in and still great overall. Added D‑rings for gear. The axle cap popped off once, so I secured it at the hardware store; planning to lock the nuts down permanently.

Solid weekend chest
Not as long‑lasting as some premium chests, but ice lasts through a weekend and it’s lighter with better wheels. Now our go‑to for lake trips.

Huge and impressive
Bigger than expected in the best way. Attractive grey‑green color, lots of space, rubber‑lined dry pocket for phones and a rugged exterior. Moves easily and looks tough.

Perfect for cottages and tournaments
Kept ice solid for over two days in hot weather. Wheels and handle handle docks, gravel and fields well, and the built‑ins make it very convenient for long events.

Very roomy interior and helpful accessories. Recommend only if you have an SUV or pickup due to its dimensions.

Huge but performs wonderfully
Very durable and travels well over uneven ground. Kept food in the dry basket fresh and held dozens of cans cold for a weekend. Handle and wheels make moving it much simpler, but it’s very large for small cars.
