Trekology Trek-Z Foldable Aluminum Trekking Poles — Lightweight Hiking Staff
Product description
Set contents and sizing: Each purchase includes a pair of Trek-Z trekking poles and a compact carry bag. Pick from two length ranges: 100–120 cm (recommended for users roughly 4'11" to 5'10") or 115–135 cm (for about 5'5" to 6'5"). The telescoping system offers about 20 cm of adjustment to fine-tune your height.
Materials and construction: The shafts are made from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy to balance strength and lightness. EVA foam grips help wick moisture away from hands for a more comfortable hold on long outings. Reinforced joints and metal cap reinforcements at folding points add durability and help the sections stay secure after repeated assembly and stowage. Removable mud stops help keep wet grime away from the tip area.
Portability and use: The poles use a tri-fold collapsible configuration that folds to roughly 15" (38 cm), so they tuck into a backpack, duffel or checked luggage easily. Weighing about 10.4 oz (294 g) per pole for the 100–120 cm set and 10.8 oz (306 g) per pole for the 115–135 cm set, they’re light enough for day hikes and multi-day treks without causing arm fatigue. The flip-lock mechanism and metal stop provide quick height changes and a secure lock. Ideal as walking sticks for seniors, everyday balance assistance, trail hikes, scrambling and travel — note they’re compact enough to be packed in checked baggage when flying.

Surprised by the performance
Far less expensive than my usual poles but worked great on a rugged walking trip. Needed something that fit inside a 20" spinner case and would help my back on steep hills. They proved light, strong and comfortable — I expected less and was happily surprised.

Compact and reliable on multi-day hikes
Took these on a six-day backpacking trek in Italy and they held up well. Their folded size fit neatly in my carry luggage, and the bright green made them easy to spot at huts. It took a couple tries to master collapsing them, but once I did they were quick to stow. Very pleased!

Failed early on a long hike
They snapped about 10 miles into my first backpacking trip, leaving me struggling on a steep descent. I jury-rigged them with tape but wouldn’t trust them for extended backpacking. Quite disappointed.

Easy setup, supportive for knees
Helpful for aging knees. These feel sturdy and improve stability on descents when used with a zigzag approach. Height adjustments are simple and they lock solidly. Good value overall.

Solid locks and dependable support
After a bad experience with flip-lock poles, I tried these and they’ve been excellent. Lightweight, quick to fold, and the single flip-lock area stays tight without slipping. I’ve used them scrambling, on slopes and loose ground — they’ve been dependable.

Exactly what I needed for support
Age 62 with knee and back issues, these were perfect for hikes in Joshua Tree. Easy to operate and provided solid support. Highly recommended for similar needs.

Handles came off in sticky mud
Bought them for a muddy multi-day trek and on day five both handles detached. I had to tape them back together to finish the route. No easy way to reach the maker now that returns are closed.

Top section can loosen under stress
Generally useful, but not ideal for very heavy users. One pole’s top segment slipped under heavy load. Hand-tightening didn’t fix it, though a small wrench did. A built-in tightening tool would be a helpful addition.
