Hori Fighting Stick Alpha — Tournament-Grade PS5/PS4/PC Arcade Stick
Product description
The Fighting Stick Alpha is a pro-style arcade controller made for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. It arrives with a preinstalled Hayabusa joystick and matching Hayabusa pushbuttons laid out in a standard eight-button tournament configuration, plus console shortcuts (home/share/options). The top panel is removable so you can swap artwork and access the mounts beneath a clear plexi overlay.
The enclosure uses a lightweight plastic shell with a removable clamshell lid that opens to reveal the internals and a place to store the USB cable (the supplied cable is roughly ten feet long). The construction favors portability and easy mod access: handles/inset grips are molded into the case and the interior has routing points for wiring and parts.
Inside you’ll find straightforward mounting points for the joystick and buttons and enough room to replace parts, change the art and perform maintenance without soldering in many cases. The stick is intended for tournament-style inputs — from quarter-circle motions to charge and DP inputs — and works natively on PS5, PS4 and Windows PC.
Included in the box are the fight stick unit with preinstalled Hayabusa joystick and buttons, the USB cable, and basic documentation. The design emphasizes quick customization and serviceability while keeping the feel and responsiveness expected of a competitive-grade controller.
Pros
- Preinstalled Hayabusa joystick and buttons
- Clamshell case makes mods and repairs easy
- Replaceable top art with plexi overlay
Cons
- Plastic shell may feel less premium to some

- Changing artwork requires button removal
VerdictA lightweight, competition-oriented arcade stick that ships ready to play and is easy to open for mods. It pairs reliable Hayabusa controls with a replaceable top panel and console-native PS5 support, making it a strong choice for newcomers and veterans who want a ready-to-customize kit.

Solid first arcade stick
My first stick and it performs great on PS5. Inputs are fast and it’s easy to modify later if you want different parts.

Officially licensed, solid build
Feels like a quality, officially licensed product. Cheaper alternatives are noticeable by comparison.

Keeps a special place — very moddable
This was my first high-end stick for Street Fighter 6 and I love it. The case opens easily, the cable stores inside, and both the joystick and buttons are easy to change. If you want PS5 compatibility and mod potential, this is a dependable choice.

Excellent for arcade-style play — handle cables carefully
Great stick for arcade fans; joystick and buttons are responsive and feel very good. Internal wires look fragile, so be cautious when coiling the USB lead inside to avoid snagging a connection.

Punches above its price — great out of the box
I own several fightsticks and this one ranks near the top. The Hayabusa parts are satisfying and the plexi top keeps it light without feeling flimsy. It’s the simplest stick I’ve opened and modded; the only minor annoyance is having to remove buttons to swap artwork.

Built for modding, minor cable gripe
Swapping parts is straightforward; Hayabusa buttons were a touch sensitive for me, but swapping to Sanwas is easy. I found the stick throw a bit long by default, but it’s designed to be adjusted. The internal cable hook can bunch the cord and make closing the lid tricky — I removed the piece and it fixed the issue.

Dependable workhorse and repairable
A good, weighted fight stick that’s easy to carry thanks to shallow grip recesses. No Windows 10 compatibility problems and it’s simple to open and service when needed.

Switched from an older RAP — glad I upgraded
I kept an older Hori RAP for years but needed a PS5-ready option. After a week of varied testing I’m very satisfied. It’s ideal for players without much stick experience who want a solid, no-nonsense controller.

A modder-friendly, lightweight stick that grows on you
If you want a light arcade stick with a clamshell case for easy access, molded grips for carrying, internal cable routing and native PS5 support, this fits. The Hayabusa joystick and buttons felt odd at first compared to Sanwa parts, but after a few weeks they became very comfortable. The plastic case looks a bit retro and keeps weight down; it opens for storage and upgrades, and the cable organizer inside is handy once you learn its layout.

In-depth tester's view: great all-rounder
After testing it with SF2, SF5, SF6, Tekken and classic arcade collections for a week, I found it consistent and forgiving. It’s a solid choice if you’re new to arcade sticks and want a device that performs reliably across many fighting games.

Reliable first stick — easy to customize
Grew up in arcades and wanted a home stick. Hori’s quality shows; it’s sturdy and straightforward to mod. Note: Seimitsu PS-14 30mm snap-in buttons don’t fully engage like the stock Hayabusa snaps, so they fit but don’t click into place the same way.

Responsive and feels tournament-ready
Very responsive with precise inputs — it uses a four-way-style gate rather than an octagonal one and the ball-top stick is true to tournament sticks. Inputs like DP and QCF register cleanly with no noticeable lag. There’s no turbo nonsense, but you get a lock to avoid accidental presses and the usual PS buttons. Cable storage requires opening the case and wrapping the long USB lead around an internal post, which takes care and patience.
