Solid Wood Nest Box for Semi-Cavity Birds — Weatherproof Untreated Shelter
Product description
Construction and contents: This nest box arrives fully assembled and ready to hang. The package includes the wooden house with an integrated mounting strip and pre-drilled fixing hole, plus drainage holes in the base for wet seasons.
Materials: Crafted from 100% untreated FSC-certified wood and fastened with brass screws for corrosion resistance. The untreated timber gives birds a natural, breathable interior while avoiding chemical treatments.
Dimensions: External measurements are approximately 25 x 28.5 x 27 cm, giving a roomy interior for semi-cavity nesting species while remaining compact enough to fit on most garden trees, posts, or walls.
Ventilation and drainage: Small ventilation openings promote air circulation for a healthier nest environment, and drainage apertures in the floor help keep the interior dry after rain.
Mounting and placement: The built-in mounting strip has a pre-drilled hole so the box can be quickly attached to a tree trunk, fence post, or exterior wall. Position it in a sheltered spot, elevated and angled slightly downward if possible to keep rain out.
Intended species and use: Designed with semi-cavity breeders in mind — blackbirds, robins, wagtails and similar garden birds. Its open-front, sheltered design lets parent birds enter and exit easily while offering protection from overhead weather and some predators.

My first little rental unit
Birds tried nesting in my fruit trees but nests kept falling. This box seems perfect: a protective roof and easy access for parents. The timber has a slight smell at first, but it arrived ready assembled so all I had to do was mount it. Worth the cost for the convenience.

Attractive and well built
Looks great and is very nicely constructed. Update: birds have used it! Feels sturdy. A bit pricey but I couldn’t have built one like this myself.

Very good build. Bluebirds and tit species have been checking it every day.

Well made but smaller than expected
Beautiful construction but the interior is smaller than I anticipated. Only tiny birds can use it. I was hoping for a larger cavity-style house for bigger species and returned it.

Sturdy, painted to match my home
Really pleased with the build quality. I painted it to match the house and mounted it under the porch to shelter it from rain. It already has two drainage holes in the base. Good size for robins — hoping they move in soon.

Well-made house for small birds
Clearly constructed from certified FSC wood as described. It arrived well packed and pre-assembled with a small guide about nesting species and seasons. The wood sheds water initially; I added three coats of preservative for extra durability, though the maker suggests removing the box in winter to refresh it before nesting season. Note: some reviews warned about splits when screws are fitted, so take care when mounting.
