Denlane USB-C Multiport Hub — 8-in-2 USB Expansion Adapter
Product description
Expand multiple connections: This Denlane 8-in-2 USB hub turns one USB-C input into a variety of interfaces to reduce cable clutter. It provides one USB 3.0 port rated up to 5Gbps, four USB 2.0 ports at 480Mbps, a USB-C data port, a TF and SD memory card reader and a 3.5mm audio adapter.
Cross-platform compatibility: The adapter works with computers and tablets that have Type-C ports, including MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad models with Type‑C, and many Windows, Android, Chrome OS and Linux systems. It supports common peripherals and file access across systems.
Ports and performance: The hub keeps a dedicated USB 3.0 channel for faster devices like external hard drives and some printers, while the USB 2.0 sockets are suitable for mice, keyboards and flash drives. The additional USB‑C data port helps connect modern accessories that use Type‑C signaling.
Wider device support: Use it with laptops, desktop towers, consoles for accessory connections, cameras, external storage, card-based media from SD/TF cards, phones via OTG adapters, printers and USB-powered gadgets. The card slots simplify photo and video file transfers without an extra reader.
Design and usability: No drivers or apps are needed — just plug and play. The hub is made with an aluminum exterior for better heat dissipation and has a slim profile for travel and desk use. Its compact footprint makes it easy to carry in a bag or keep on a workspace.
Pros
- Compact aluminum construction
- Useful mix of USB-A, USB-C, SD/TF and audio
- USB 3.0 port for faster data transfers
Cons
- Ports are closely spaced
- No power delivery for charging
- Bright status LED on some units
VerdictA practical, travel-friendly hub that adds a useful mix of ports for everyday peripherals and media. The USB 3.0 channel handles high-speed drives while the extra USB‑A ports are ideal for keyboards, mice and thumb drives. Build quality is solid with an aluminum shell, but the tightly grouped side ports and lack of power delivery for device charging are important trade-offs.

Does the job, minor annoyance
Bought to connect a different mouse to my MacBook and it worked fine. My only gripe is a bright blue LED when plugged in that I had to cover at night.

Ports too close together
All connectors sit on one side and get crowded, which makes swapping plugs fiddly. Cable length is fine for desktops, but some USB‑C plugs didn’t fit my adapter due to alignment.

Easy to use
Really like it — functions smoothly. My computer briefly treated it like an external drive at first, but that was easy to sort out.

Works for recording but no charging pass-through
Used it with my iPad and an audio interface for recording and it performed well, but it does not provide power delivery to charge the iPad while in use.

Very useful for plugging in several devices at once. Gives me confidence I can run multiple accessories simultaneously. Happy with it.

A and C input options are great
Solid build and the ability to plug using either an A or C connection is handy. It passed current to attached devices on USB‑C 3.1/4 without problems.
