Marine
Martyr CMX08 Zinc Shaft & Rudder Sacrificial Anode — 1-3/4"
Product description
Protects underwater metalwork from galvanic corrosion by sacrificing itself to prevent pitting and metal loss on propellers, shafts, and hull fittings. Ideal for use in saltwater environments where zinc is the preferred material.
Constructed from marine-grade zinc, this anode is fabricated to offer stable, long-term corrosion protection. The CMX08 is sized for a 1-3/4" shaft and intended for use on propeller shafts and rudder posts and other submerged components.
The anode comes as a precision two-piece unit: two interlocking halves that clamp around the shaft to provide complete 360° electrical contact. This split design simplifies installation and improves the continuity needed for effective sacrificial protection.
Made under an ISO 9001 quality system, these anodes are produced to consistent specifications to ensure dependable replacement intervals and predictable performance in marine service.
Pros
- Two-piece design for full shaft contact
- Marine-grade zinc suited for saltwater
- Manufactured to ISO 9001 quality standards
Cons
- Zinc is not ideal for all freshwater situations
- Limited to shafts of the specified diameter
- Will require periodic replacement as it corrodes
VerdictA reliable zinc shaft and rudder anode that offers straightforward replacement and solid saltwater protection. Its split-body design gives full circumferential contact for better electrical continuity, making it a practical choice for routine maintenance on prop shafts and underwater fittings. Well-suited for owners seeking a proven, ISO 9001-made sacrificial anode with easy installation.
