7-Grain Multigrain Rice Blend — 2 lb (Nishiki)
Product description
This 2-pound package contains Nishiki’s premium seven-grain mix crafted from whole grains. The mix is labeled Non-GMO, gluten-free, kosher certified, and is intended to add nutritional value to everyday rice dishes.
Contents include medium-grain brown rice, brown sweet rice, red rice, buckwheat groats, quinoa, black rice, and millet. The grains are sold pre-blended in a resealable bag for storage convenience.
Use it by adding a measured portion to short- or medium-grain white rice according to the package ratio, or cook small quantities on their own. It cooks well in a rice cooker, instant pot, or on the stovetop; many users rinse and soak briefly before cooking to improve texture. Expect the darker grains to tint the finished rice.
Pros
- Adds fiber and variety to white rice
- Gluten-free, Non-GMO, and kosher certified
- Works well in rice cookers and pressure cookers
Cons
- Black rice can change the final color
- Takes longer to cook than white rice alone
- Best when combined with white rice for balance
VerdictA nutritious, versatile grain blend that boosts fiber and flavor when added to regular rice. Easy to cook in a rice cooker or pressure cooker when used at the recommended ratios. Expect a darker tint from the black rice but enjoy a hearty texture and fuller taste.

Makes plain rice more wholesome and flavorful
I blend this with short-grain white rice to up the fiber and nutrition. The mix brings extra texture and a nutty flavor. Love the resealable bag — two pounds lasts about a month with daily use. Follow the soaking directions or it can be underdone.

Tastes good but changes rice color
Flavor and texture are solid when mixed with white rice and cooked in a rice cooker. My only gripe is the black grains staining the rest of the rice purple — it’s purely an appearance issue, so I docked a star.

Adds nutrition and cooks easily in a rice cooker
I’ve used Nishiki rice for years and bought this seven-grain mix on a whim. It turned our usual rice into a healthier side without extra fuss — cooked straight in my rice cooker with the regular ratio. It pairs nicely with Indian and Asian dishes. Only minor downside: the darker grains tint the rice purple, purely cosmetic. Good value overall.

Tastes great and blends well with white rice
Very tasty, combines smoothly with white rice and gives a cool purple hue. Packaging and quality have been consistent across repeat buys.

Pretty purple color, great texture
I stirred one part of this mix into three parts basmati and cooked in my rice cooker. The color turned everything purple (brighter in person than photos), which we actually liked. The grains added pleasant chew and flavor. Will buy again.

Simple, tasty addition to mixed rice
I mix half this blend with half white rice in the rice cooker — no change to prep. It gives a hearty flavor, pleasant texture, and leaves a slight purple tint. We love it.

High-quality grains with a nice chew
First time trying this mix and I noticed the quality in the texture and taste. I use it stirred into Sekka rice for japgokbap in my instant pot (3:1 rice to mix) with soaked beans; cooked at high pressure for 20 minutes and it turned out great. It’s now my go-to for mixed-grain dishes.

Great pantry staple when used as intended
This product is meant to be added to white rice — the bag even suggests a ratio. If you cook it alone in large amounts you’ll get a different result and higher cost per serving. Properly mixed and rinsed, it’s tasty, healthy, and stretches a rice supply nicely.
